This evening will see Kelty Hearts welcome St Johnstone to New Central Park for the first of four Bet Fred Cup ties.
Barry Ferguson will be kicking off the competitive calendar with a historic night at NCP as Kelty face Scottish Premiership Opposition for the first time in a competitive fixture. The Fifers played 4 preseason matches including a 1-1 draw at home to Airdrieonians and a 2-1 defeat away to Stenhousemuir.
St Johnstone visit Kelty after a tough start to the season which has seen the Perth side pick up just 7 points in their opening 10 games of the 2020-21 SPL Season.
Kelty make their debut in this seasons Bet Fred Cup and have been drawn against Premiership sides St Johnstone and Dundee United as well as Peterhead and Brechin City. They open up their account against The Saints tonight before a trip to Tannadice next week to face Dundee United.
Kallum Higginbotham makes his competitive debut for the Kelty Jambos after scoring on 2 occasions during the preseason.
Higginbotham is no stranger to the League cup having played in 28 League Cup matches throughout his career. He spent last season playing in the I-League in India for Real Kashmir and will be keen to hit the ground running in tonight’s match.
We caught up with Kallum earlier in the week. Listen to his Interview HERE
This evenings match will be shown LIVE on Kelty Hearts TV and can be accessed HERE.
Commentator Shaun Spedding will be joined by Kieran Ireland and Saints TV Commentator Steven Watt to talk you through the game.
