The Betfred Cup Group stages come to conclusion on Saturday with Lowland League’s Kelty face SPFL’s Brechin City.

The visitors Kelty are coming off a confident performance against League One side Peterhead at New Central Park. A Jamie Stevenson bullet free kick helped the side onto a 1-1 draw over 90 minutes. Frustratingly the ensuing penalties went in favour of Peterhead, Kelty picking up a single point from the game.

Brechin are still in search of their first points in this seasons Betfred Cup, having conceding 10 and scoring 1 over their three losses so far in the competition. In league business Brechin picked up their first points of the season against Stirling Albion 2 weeks ago.

Head to Head

Saturdays meeting will be the first between the two sides. Despite this the tie carries some significance after the two sides came close to facing for the first time at the end of the 2019-20 season.

Players to Watch

Matty Flynn has been solid filling in for the injured Nathan Austin and cup tied Grant Anderson over the last couple of weeks.

Nathan Austin is unlikely to Start on Saturday and it looks likely we could see Flynn feature in the starting 11 again. The quick footed striker will cause problems for the Brechin back 4 and with Philp and Higginbotham in support there will be opportunities for goals against a leaky Brechin defence.
