Kelty join the Scottish Cup in the First Round this season where we welcome Jeanfield Swifts to New Central Park on Boxing Day.

Kelty head into the Scottish Cup with a fantastic run of form in the league behind them, and a tough run of fixtures ahead. Last weekend saw Kelty emerge as victors beating out a tough University of Stirling side 2-0 with Austin and Shanley finding the back of the net while a good save from Stirling Keeper Fry denied Higginbotham another goal from the spot. Our last outing in the Scottish Cup ended in a 3-0 defeat at the hands of, then Junior side, Auchinleck Talbot at New Central Park.

Jeanfield Swifts also head into the First Round of the Scottish Cup in good form having beaten University of Stirling in the Second Preliminary Round of the Scottish Cup 3-1, scoring their 3 goals in the opening 22 minutes. Jeanfield play their League Football in the East of Scotland Premier Division where they currently sit Second after winning 7 of their opening 9 fixtures, drawing the remain 2.

Head to Head

The Boxing Day Fixture will see the two sides meet for the first time since their Junior Super League days as the two sides continue to press on within the Pyramid System.

During the 2016-17 Super League Kelty and Jeanfield met twice sharing the spoils with a win each. Kelty won the first 3-2 with goals from Sean O’Neil, Scott Dalziel and Conrad Courts, Jeanfield won the last meeting between the two teams at New Central Park with eventual Supporters Man of the Match Award winner Craig Thomson scoring the only goal in a 2-1 defeat.

Kelty will be favorites this time around but Jeanfield are unbeaten this season and have already knocked one Lowland League team out of the Scottish Cup this season.

Last 3 meetings:

Kelty Hearts                     1-2       Jeanfield Swifts      (25/02/17)

Jeanfield Swifts               2-3      Kelty Hearts            (17/08/16)

Jeanfield Swifts               1-0      Kelty Hearts             (05/06/13)

Players to Watch

Nathan Austin will be eagerly awaiting this one as the striker looks to add to his 10 goals so far this season that now put him joint top goalscorer in the Lowland League this season.

Austin is chasing 48 goals in all last season but missed some playing time earlier in the season and now finds himself playing catchup, against himself. 7 Goals in his last four games has been a huge boost to the side since his return to the starting line up and against a side capable of causing an upset the boys in maroon will once again look to the prolific goalscorer to add to his tally.

Easton, Higginbotham and Philp have 18 goals between them in the league as well and at the back the side have secured 10 clean sheets in their 13 games so far this season, some strong stats the side will look to build upon this weekend.
