Kelty head back to New Central Park for our final league match of 2020 where we welcome this seasons surprise package, University of Stirling.

Kelty return from the capital with 3 points after comfortably putting four goals past the Spartans as the home side were reduced to 10 men. Austin and Higginbotham found themselves on the scoresheet for the second game in four days, Shanley made no mistake about getting his debut this time round and late substitute Philp also found the back of the net.

University of Stirling find themselves sixth in the Lowland League having beaten Spartans, Bo’ness and Gala already this season. They have however struggled in recent outings losing three of their last four, including a 3-1 defeat to Kelty’s Scottish Cup R1 opposition Jeanfield Swift’s.

Head to Head

Saturdays game between the two sides will be the sixth meeting between the two and the fifth in league action. Kelty have won four of the previous five meetings, the other meeting finishing 2-2 in Kelty’s first season in the Lowland League.

University of Stirling have the leagues top scorer, Jamie Penker, in their side. Penker has 10 goals this season to Austin’s 9, both will be looking to build on those numbers. Kelty will also be pitting the leagues strongest defence, conceding just 4 goals in 12 games, against Stirlings Penker.

Last time out Kelty took all 3 points thanks to two goals from Nathan “FeedTheFash” Austin in the 2-1 win over the University side.

Last 3 meetings:

Kelty Hearts                     2-1       University of Stirling

Kelty Hearts                     2-0       University of Stirling

University of Stirling      1-4       Kelty Hearts

Players to Watch

Scott Hooper will feature again this weekend as Kelty look to keep out Jamie Penker and secure another clean sheet.

Hooper went straight into a new back line after signing with Kelty from Peterhead during the preseason and has quickly formed a solid partnership with Dougie Hill at the back. This weekend will mark the first of four big league games with Bonnyrigg, East Stirlingshire and BSC Glasgow to follow.
